How to Use

1
Enter monthly salary

Enter pre-tax monthly salary (KRW). Insurances are computed on "remuneration", and tax-free items like meal allowance are deducted automatically when entered.

2
Enter tax-free items (optional)

Enter total tax-free items (meal allowance up to 200,000 KRW/month, commuting allowance 200,000, childcare allowance, tuition, etc.). Remuneration = total salary − tax-free.

3
Read the result

Employee withholding (reduces take-home) and employer contribution are shown by item. For business owners, the employer share adds to labor cost (salary + employer contribution).

FAQ

Korean 4-insurance rates?

As of 2026 — National Pension: 4.5% (employee) + 4.5% (employer) = 9.0%. Health Insurance: 3.545% + 3.545% = 7.09%. Long-Term Care: Health × 12.95%. Employment Insurance: 0.9% + 1.05–1.65% (by industry). Industrial Accident: 0% + 0.7–3% (by industry, average ~1.43%).

What is remuneration / standard monthly income?

National Pension uses a 'standard monthly income' (capped at 5.9M KRW, floor 350k as of 2026). Health, Long-Term Care, and Employment use 'remuneration' (monthly average pre-tax minus tax-free). This tool uses input salary minus tax-free items as the base.

Pension cap and floor?

Only National Pension has a cap/floor on standard income: above 5.9M KRW capped at 5.9M, below 350k floored at 350k (2026). Health, Long-Term Care, Employment have no caps and scale linearly.

What is the 200k tax-free meal allowance?

Korea allows up to 200,000 KRW/month of company-paid meal allowance to be excluded from income tax AND social insurance base (raised in 2024). Other tax-free items include commuting allowance (200k), childcare allowance for under-6 (200k), tuition. Check your pay stub's 'tax-free' line.

Why show employer share?

Korean social insurances are co-paid by employer and employee. Business owners and HR staff need to budget total labor cost = salary + employer share. e.g., a 3M KRW salary actually costs the employer ~3.3M KRW.

Why is income tax missing?

This tool covers only the 4 social insurances. Income tax + local tax use separate progressive rates — use the "Salary Take-Home Calculator" for an end-to-end view. Use this when you only need a quick insurance breakdown.

Is my input sent to a server?

No. All computation runs in your browser; inputs are never sent over the network.
