Terms of Service

1. Purpose

These Terms govern your use of the services provided by the JiniTools operator ("the Operator") at https://jinitools.com ("the Service"). They define the conditions of use, the rights and obligations of the Operator and users, and the limits of liability.

2. Definitions

• "Service" means all tools, pages, and content available on the JiniTools domain and subpaths.
• "User" means any natural or legal person using the Service under these Terms.
• "Tool" means an individual feature provided by the Service (image conversion, PDF processing, calculators, etc.).
• "Content" means all material displayed in the Service (guide articles, UI text, design, logo, source code).
• "Browser processing" means processing performed by JavaScript inside the user's web browser, with no data transmitted to a server.

3. Effect of these Terms and changes

• These Terms take effect when you access the Service and use a tool.
• The Operator may amend these Terms within the limits of applicable law.
• Material changes (those adverse to the user) will be announced on this page and the home page at least 7 days before they take effect.
• You may stop using the Service if you disagree with a change. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

4. What the Service provides

• Browser-based file conversion tools (image compression, PDF merge/split, format conversion)
• Browser-based calculators (real estate tax, housing subscription points, Korean social insurances, stock averaging)
• Text and data tools (JSON formatter, regex tester, etc.)
• Generators for QR codes, hashes, UUIDs, and similar utilities
• Guide articles and category landing pages providing context for tool usage

Every tool runs inside your browser and is available without account creation, login, or payment.

5. Eligibility

• The Service is freely available to users aged 14 or older (13 or older in the United States).
• Users under 14 (under 13 in the US) should use the Service under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
• Users are responsible for complying with the laws of their country of residence.

6. User obligations

• Comply with applicable law, these Terms, and any reasonable notices from the Operator.
• Only feed tools with files or content you own or have permission to use.
• Independently verify tool outputs before relying on them — especially for tax, legal, medical, or financial decisions.
• Refrain from any activity that compromises the Service's stability or security.

7. Prohibited activities

• Feeding tools with illegal content (child sexual abuse material, drug-trafficking content, incitement to violence or terrorism).
• Processing content that infringes another person's copyright, trademark, likeness, or privacy.
• Activities that interfere with the Service's normal operation (DoS/DDoS, generating excessive server load). The Service has no server-side processing, but excessive requests to third-party CDN resources are also included.
• Mass scraping, copying, or redistributing Service content through automated tools (bots).
• Intentionally probing or exploiting security vulnerabilities (responsible security research with prior disclosure is exempt).
• Reproducing, redistributing, or modifying the Service's source code, design, logo, or content for commercial purposes without prior consent.
• Impersonating the Operator or a third party, or displaying false information.

8. Disclaimer regarding tool accuracy

All tools are provided "AS IS." The Operator is not liable for the following:

• Tax and legal calculators: Korean-law-based calculations (car tax, acquisition tax, housing subscription points, social insurances, capital gains tax) may differ from real cases depending on effective dates, enforcement decrees, and amendments. For actual tax filings or legal decisions, verify with official sources (Wetax, Hometax, National Tax Service) and consult a qualified professional.
• Medical and health tools: BMI, BMR, pregnancy week, and pet age tools are for general reference only and must not be used as a basis for medical diagnosis or treatment.
• Financial calculators: stock average price, savings interest, and loan repayment are arithmetic results and do not constitute investment advice.
• File conversion tools: output quality from image compression and PDF conversion varies by input file, browser, and device; lossless preservation is not guaranteed.
• Data loss: the Operator is not liable for data loss during tool usage. Always keep a separate copy of important files.

9. Limitation of liability

• The Operator is not liable for service interruptions caused by force majeure, war, government order, network outages, or failures of third-party CDNs (Cloudflare, jsDelivr, etc.).
• The Operator is not liable for third-party disputes (copyright, defamation, etc.) arising from content the user processes through the Service. Such liability rests with the user.
• To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Operator's liability for matters not expressly stated in these Terms is limited.
• Even where the Operator is found liable, damages are limited to ordinary damages, considering that the Service is provided free of charge. The Operator is not liable for special, indirect, or consequential damages, including lost profits.

10. Intellectual property

• All rights to the Service's design, UI, logo ("JiniTools" name and J mark), source code, guide articles, and category descriptions created by the Operator belong to the Operator.
• The Service uses open-source libraries under MIT, Apache 2.0, BSD, and similar licenses, including pdf-lib, PDF.js, JSZip, browser-image-compression, qrcode, jsQR, spark-md5, heic2any, gif.js, Tesseract.js, js-yaml, Turndown, sql-formatter, and SortableJS.
• All rights to the files and outputs you process through the tools remain with you. The Operator claims no rights over user outputs.
• Personal or educational citation of the Service's design, code, or content is permitted with attribution. Commercial reproduction or redistribution requires prior consent.

11. Advertising

• The Service may display ads via Google AdSense to cover operating costs.
• Ads are placed only in positions (top, middle, bottom of pages) that do not obstruct the core user flow — working areas, output, and download buttons.
• Ad content is supplied by advertisers; the Operator does not warrant its accuracy or legality. Disputes about ad content are between the user and the advertiser.

12. Service changes and discontinuation

• The Operator may change the Service's content (adding or removing tools, modifying features) without prior notice for improvement.
• When a tool is removed, advance notice is posted on the home page or the tool page where feasible.
• If the Service is discontinued entirely, a notice is posted on the home page at least 30 days before the effective date (immediate discontinuation is possible under force majeure or legal orders).

13. Usage restrictions

• Temporary or permanent blocking of IP addresses or access patterns that violate these Terms.
• Reporting to relevant authorities (Personal Information Infringement Report Center, cybercrime units, etc.).
• Account-level actions do not apply because the Service has no accounts.

14. External links

The Service may link to external sites (Cloudflare, Google, open-source library homepages, etc.) for operational purposes. The Operator is not responsible for the content, policies, or services of those sites, which are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

15. Governing law and dispute resolution

• These Terms and matters related to use of the Service are interpreted and applied under the laws of the Republic of Korea.
• If a dispute arises between the Operator and a user, the parties first attempt resolution through mutual discussion.
• For disputes not resolved by discussion, the competent court is the court of jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act. If the Operator's general venue is Seoul, the Seoul Central District Court is the court of first instance.
• For international users, the foregoing applies subject to mandatory provisions of your country of residence that may grant jurisdiction to local courts.
