How do I use the timeline editor?
Switch to Timeline editor, add videos or photos, split or reorder clips, and add captions and music before exporting MP4. Caption and music times are relative to the entire project; they do not move with reordered clips.
Can I import and download SRT subtitles?
Use Add SRT captions in the timeline editor to append a UTF-8 subtitle file. Edit timings, text and styling, then burn captions into MP4 or download SRT separately. SRT does not store text styling. Files must be under 1 MB, with up to 300 captions total and all intervals within the current video duration.
What are the timeline editor limits?
Projects are limited to 5 minutes and 500 MB total input. Output is re-encoded at 30 fps in 720p or 1080p. Supported codecs depend on your browser. Save a project file and reconnect the original media to resume editing later. Preview the exported result before downloading.
Why does only the start need to sit on a keyframe?
Video is stored as keyframes — complete pictures a few seconds apart — plus the differences between them. Starting anywhere else means everything from the previous keyframe has to be recomputed, which is what re-encoding is. Cutting the end only throws away later data, so it is always lossless.
How different are lossless and re-encoded results?
Lossless copies the original data into a new container, so the picture is identical to the source and the job usually finishes in seconds. Re-encoding recalculates every frame, so it takes time proportional to the clip length and gives up a little quality.
Which formats can I use?
It reads most video files — MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and more — and always writes MP4. The preview only appears when your browser can play the codec; even when it cannot (iPhone HEVC MOV, for example), trimming itself still works.
Does it handle large files?
The input is read in pieces, so large files open fine. The result is held in memory until you download it, so on a phone a very large file (several GB) may fail.
Can I remove or keep only the audio?
Quick trim supports muting and downscaling. The timeline editor also supports clip volume, rotation and background music. Audio-only export is not provided.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. Reading, trimming, and saving all run inside your browser. Open the Network tab in developer tools (F12) while you add a file and you can confirm nothing is uploaded.
