What is EXIF data?
Metadata your camera writes into the file automatically: GPS coordinates, the date and time, the camera or phone model, and often the lens and exposure settings. It travels with the photo, so anyone who receives the file can read it.
Do I need to strip it before posting?
Most large social networks strip EXIF on upload, but blogs, forums, marketplaces, and direct file sharing usually do not. If a photo was taken at home, the GPS tag alone can reveal your address — strip it whenever you are not sure what the destination does.
